Tricia and Drew

When I first met them in January of 2011, June of 2012 seemed like a long way away.  So here we are at our planning meeting for their upcoming wedding wondering where the time has gone!  The Arctic Club will our venue under Katy Griffiths (Vows Event Planning) capable guidance.  The details are vast and the theme is FUN!  Drew and Tricia are ecstatic and just can’t wait.  Me too!

Newcastle Wedding Show

It was such great fun to see so many of my friends when we all participated in the Wedding show at the Golf Club and Newcastle.  Erik Franklin, Director of Catering, and his stellar staff did an exemplary job organizing and implementing the event.  Tasty food and tasteful decor were served up to countless brides and grooms that toured on that sunny afternoon in April.  Each of Newcastle’s spacious banquet rooms and the magnificent tent were on display showing off wedding finery with some of the finest vendors of whom I have had the privilege to work.   I was so honored to be a part of it!

Since she was this high…

I have known Rachel, yes, since she was “this” high.  I performed her father’s and stepmother’s wedding about 15 years ago and she was the flower girl!  I am so honored to be involved as the next generation takes this important step.  We were able to coordinate our busy schedules recently to review the scope of Brent and Rachel’s wedding in July.  It will be a sweet reunion for all of us.

Meet Leslie from Seattle Parties!

She is just plain fun and one of my favorite DJ’s here in Seattle.  Her husband Sean is quite talented as well.  They seem to know every genre of music and they both thrive living their passion!  Seattle Parties has the gift of  making a party happen – and the ability to sustain it.  Positive and upbeat – with great equipment for the ceremony and reception.  When I know they have been hired, I always take a big sigh of relief!  Party on Leslie and Sean!

Nicole + Annie

We had such a fun dinner a couple of weeks ago.  Nicole is gluten sensitive but that didn’t stop us from enjoying good food!  I made gluten free pasta with marinara sauce, fresh garden salad and an oatmeal/apple crisp.  Nicole took the extra home because she doesn’t get to have many deserts!  Their wedding will be at The Woodmark Hotel in June – with True Colors Events leading the way!

Focal Point

When I see designers scope out a voluminous room and transform it into a warm gathering hub, I find myself in a state of awe.  Recently, on Mercer Island, I watched miracles happen as two of these colossal bouquets were brought in (by very strong men!) and displayed at the “Altar Area” as focal points.  It truly changed the front of the room to a gracious and amiable scene.  This vast collection of stunning flowers and twigs, brightly back-lit by  beautiful April sunshine, brought “ooohs and ahhhs” from all the guests!

The Mason Jar Bouquet …with a twist

We’ve seen the Mason Jar bouquet done at weddings before – but I love the change-up of the yellow paint, the burlap and ribbon  band trim and the natural arrangement that perfectly complements the “vase”.   The florist was kept in the loop regarding the burlap runners and used this rough textured fabric to mirror the cozy theme.  Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions.”  Ah – cheers to perfect proportions!
